How does Chlorine dioxide wordks

How does it work?Of the oxidizing biocides, chlorine dioxide is the most selective oxidizing agent. Ozone and chlorine are much more reactive than chlorine dioxide and they are consumed by most organic compounds. Chlorine dioxide, however, only reacts with reduced sulfur compounds, the secondary and tertiary amines and other strongly reduced and reactive organic substances. This allows much lower doses of chlorine dioxide to maintain a stable residue than is the case with chlorine or ozone. Chlorine dioxide produced without errors (no chlorine dioxide produced is the same) can be used because of its selectivity for loads with a high proportion of organic substances, in contrast to chlorine or ozone. |
